Volunteering in the Classroom

10/2/2015

The whole month of October, we will be discussing ways to partner with your child’s teacher so that you can ensure that he or she is maximizing their learning potential in this season. Now that your child’s class has been able to get into a regular routine, it’s time to begin volunteering your time, talents and/or resources to benefit the whole class. Teachers often appreciate when parents are involved, and you’d be surprised how much having a little facetime at the school will inspire your child to do well--especially in the early elementary years.  Here are a few ways that you can help:

  1. Join a PTA/PTO committee or serve as an officer
  2. Offer to read to the class
  3. Bring extra snacks
  4. Sign up to organize a special seasonal event
  5. Help organize a fundraiser
  6. Chaperone a field trip
  7. Tutor/assist students with homework
